HCMC-based Saigontourist Group has signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Quang Ninh Province with which both will join hands inspurring tourism development in the northern province.

Asigning ceremony of memorandum of understanding on developing tourism during 2020-2021 between Saigontourist Group and Quang Ninh Province People’s Committee took place last Thursday, December 26, in Ha Long City. The signing ceremony was attended by Vu Thi Thu Thuy, vice chair woman of the province, and VoAnh Tai, deputy general director of Saigontourist Group.The agreement is to promote cooperation in tourism development and turn tourism into a key economic sector of Quang Ninh Province.Vu Thi Thu Thuy, vice chair-woman of the province said at thesigning ceremony that Quang Ninh highly appreciated Saigontourist’s investment in tourism in the province. The agreement on tourism development for 2020-2021 is an evidence, she said.Vo Anh Tai, vice general director of Saigontourist Group, said the cooper- ation provides motivation for Saigon-tourist to develop Quang Ninh’s tourism effectively. The agreement calls for increased consultation, research and development of new tourism products and services, and tourism promotion in both domestic and international markets. It also chart out cooperation fields in advanced training of human resources and roadshows to promote tourism, trade and investment, with the participation of members from Quang Ninh governmental agencies apart from studies on investment projects in the locality. In addition, the provincial leadership would develop policies on sup-porting Saigontourist Group during investment, research and development of tourism products, as wellas operations in the province. Toursand accommodation services offered by Saigontourist would be also prioritized in Quang Ninh.
A key market of Saigontourist GroupSaigontourist Group has 20 yearsof experience in investing in tourism in Quang Ninh. The group has operated the four-star Saigon-Halong Hotel and the five-star Majestic Mong Cai Hotel in the province. Quang Ninh’s tourism products are part of key products of Saigontourist, which attract tourists at home and abroad. The group has also provided tourism services in Quang Ninh effectively via its tourism offices in the province. Saigontourist Group annually serves more than 100,000 visitors tothe province, earning a revenue of hundreds of billions of dong and creating multiple jobs for locals. According to statistics from the Quang Ninh Department of Planning and Investment, the province attracted 10.5 million tourists in the first eight months of 2019, up14% over the same period last year. Also, there were 3.7 million international tourists, up 14% year-on-year. The province aims to become an international tourist hub by 2030, expecting to welcome 50 million visitors. Established in August 1975, Saigontourist Group currently manages more than 100 hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel companies, amusement parks, tourism training schools, and conference and exhibition centers, among others.
